Palestinian Association for Cultural Exchange (PACE), El Bireh, Ramallah District

PACE is a Palestinian NGO with a mission to protect and promote Palestinian cultural heritage through education, preservation work, research, and exchange programs. The organization is committed to the rich history, diversity, and resources of Palestine, and therefore to supporting an agenda that both protects heritage and promotes change. PACE engages with local communities, especially women and children, as well as international agencies and exchange programs to promote its mission and message.

The organization was founded in 1996 by a group of Palestinian professionals who were committed to strengthening and preserving Palestinian culture and heritage. PACE works to preserve the Palestinian culture through preservation and rehabilitation of historical sites, documentation and publication of research on Palestinian history, organization of tours, workshops and lectures, and training in the subjects of oral history and traditional handicrafts.

PACE has published volumes on oral history and the experience of Palestinian refugees. The organization's database holds a significant amount of photos, slides, recorded and transcribed interviews and documentary films, and is open to public use.

Looking toward the future, PACE hopes to establish cultural centers or museums and also to create community spaces for cultural events at various rehabilitated village sites.
