Idna Ladies' Association, Idna, Hebron District |
The Idna Ladies' Asociation was created in 1998 by a group of women as a small income generation project. One of its goals was to relieve some of the village's economic difficulties and empower the area's women through income generation skill training. This goal was especially critical in light of losses of employment and agricultural land due to the construction of Israel's separation wall. What began as a small, one room operation now supports the families of more than 40 women, and the women hope to continue expanding the operation. The women have gained a sense of independence and self-worth by obtaining skills and becoming the main contributors to family budgets.
